New Delhi: BJP president Rajnath Singh said on Wednesday that the Congress party was responsible for destroying the communal and social harmony of the country.

The senior BJP leader posted on the micro-blogging site Twitter - “The Congress party and government have destroyed the communal and social harmony of India.”

In another tweet he wrote - “The BJP has always pursued the path of social harmony and positive secularism. The Congress should apologise to the nation not the BJP.”

Rajnath also wrote on Twitter - “The BJP has always worked to maintain social and communal harmony in the country. We believe in `Insaaf and Insaniyat`.”

Yesterday speaking at the "Narendra Modi`s Mission 272+: Role of Muslims" summit attended by members of the party`s minority cell, the BJP president had urged Muslims to give the BJP a chance to govern. He had also asked the minority community to vote in favour of the party in the upcoming General Elections.

Rajnath had further said that if the BJP had ever committed any mistake then it was ready to ask for forgiveness.

Talking about the 2002 Gujarat riots, the BJP president said Congress engineered such a propaganda as if Modi had ordered the massacre of all Muslims at that time and is now not even ready to accept the clean chit given to him by the courts, a PTI news report said.
