New Delhi: In an unexpected turn of events, recently designated HRD Minister Smriti Irani has found a new supporter in Congress leader Rashid Alvi, who on Wednesday slammed the remarks made on the former`s educational qualification.
Congress leader Ajay Maken on Tuesday had taken a jibe at Irani`s educational qualification. “What a Cabinet of Narendra Modi? HRD Minister (Looking after Education) Smriti Irani is not even a graduate,” he had said.
However, Maken`s remark didn`t go well with his fellow Congressman Rashid Alvi who while criticising the remarks said that comments should be made only on Irani`s performance and not on her educational qualification.
“My personal opinion is that we must comment only on Smriti Irani`s performance and should not talk about her educational qualification,” said Alvi.
This is not the first time Alvi has supported a BJP leader. Earlier, he had also supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inviting the heads of SAARC countries including Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Besides this, Alvi also spoke on Article 370-- an issue triggered by MOS Jitendra Singh-- and said Kashmir is an inseparable and integral part of India.
“Article 370 is a part of our constitution. Kashmir is an integral and inseparable part of India,” he said.
