New Delhi: Congress today left a beleaguered
Suresh Kalmadi to fend for himself in the wake of the CBI
raids on the residence of the party MP over allegations of
bungling in the conduct of the Commonwealth Games.

"The party and the government has no connection with it.
Law is equal for all. There is no question of backing
anybody", party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters.
He said this when asked by reporters whether like DMK
backing former Telecom Minister A Raja in the wake of raids
in the 2G scam the Congress stands by the Chairman of the
Organising Committee of the Games.

"CBI is independent. It is taking action..... A legal,
judicial criminal process is going on. Let us not interfere.
The Congress and the administration does not interfere in the
process", he said.

Singhvi utilised the occasion to target BJP alleging
that its only action in connection with wrongdoings of its
leaders was "inaction".

The AICC`s reaction came hours after CBI raided
Kalmadi`s house and questioned him for eight hours.
