Country-made bomb goes off in Lucknow CJM court; no casualities

A country-made bomb went off on Saturday in Lucknow’s Chief Judicial Magistrate court. The blast occurred inside a bathroom near to the judge’s office.

Lucknow, Nov 15: A country-made bomb went off on Saturday in Lucknow’s Chief Judicial Magistrate court. The blast occurred inside a bathroom near to the judge’s office. There are no reports of any injuries in the incident.
According to media reports, the bomb went off inside the bathroom at about 12.30 pm.

A police official said that it is the same kind of blast that took place inside the bathroom of Lucknow District Court yesterday. The miscreants basically wanted to disrupt the court’s day-to-day activities and further details would be revealed after investigations are over, he added.

Meanwhile, SP City has confirmed that the bomb was a country-made one.

Media reports said that the blasts might be the fallout of a conflict between two groups of lawyers.

Yesterday, a similar blast had taken place in a bathroom, near the office of the district judge.

On November 23, 2007 six serial blasts rocked the civil courts of three cities -- Varanasi, Faizabad and Lucknow. Fifteen persons were killed and over 80 injured in those blasts.

After the explosion, state DGP Vikram Singh said that they have taken it "seriously and decided to step up security measures.”

"The Additional DG has already inspected the sites of the explosion including the toilets where the explosions took place," he said.

"The materials used in today`s explosion contained potash and sulphur that are used in the manufacture of firecrackers. This was confirmed by the bomb disposal squad," the DGP said.

Protesting the alleged lack of security in the court area, members of Avadh Bar Association today suspended work.

Lawyers also staged a demonstration demanding adequate security on premises.

The DGP said that in order to strengthen the security, CCTVs would be installed at the court premises.

It has also been decided to depute policemen in civil clothes on the premises to keep an eye over the mischievous elements, the DGP added.
