Failed to woo voters on all fronts in Jharkhand: Sharad Yadav

New Delhi: Accepting the party`s failure to
woo the voters on all fronts, JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav on Thursday
said that by handing out a fractured verdict in the assembly
elections, Jharkhand continues to stand where it was earlier.

"In Jharkhand neither the issue of stability, nor
corruption and inflation worked. We (its alliance with BJP)
have lost comprehensively. In fact our party had six seats in
the previous assembly and has now come down to two seats.

"Now only Guruji (JMM chief Shibu Soren) can be the king
maker. Unfortunately Jharkhand remains where it was earlier.
Our dream of establishing a stable government has been
shattered," Yadav told reporters here.

He added that their alliance tried to build a consensus
against corruption among the people, but failed in its
efforts.

Yadav, however, denied that there was any infighting
within the BJP-JD(U) alliance, which led to its poor showing
in the assembly polls.

"After a loss, all such theories are floated. There was
never any infighting among us," he said, adding that talking
to Babulal Marandi for a pre-poll alliance was BJP`s problem.

He was reacting to a query whether a tie-up with
Marandi`s Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) could have
been beneficial for the BJP-JD(U) alliance.

The JD(U) chief however indicated that the alliance
has spoken to Soren on a possible post-poll tie up on forming
the government in the state.

"There have been discussions with Guruji and BJP but
nothing is clear, as nobody is saying anything right now," he
said.

The BJP-JD(U) alliance has 20 seats while the magic
figure is 41 in a House of 81 in the state. JMM with 18 seats,
is in a position of forming the next government there and is
being wooed by both Congress and BJP.
