Goa crisis blown over as troubleshooting by Congress begins

Goa’s political crisis were eclipsed today with the troubleshooting initiative by the state party leaders at the behest of high command.

Panaji: Goa’s political crisis were
eclipsed today with the troubleshooting initiative by the
state party leaders at the behest of high command.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Subhash
Shirodkar, who returned from Delhi last night, indicated that
the crisis are blown over even though dissident Congress
legislators maintained that they will be meeting tomorrow to
press for the demand of leadership change.

Shirodkar, who was on a troubleshooting mission, this
morning met dissident legislators Pandurang Madkaikar and
Dayanand Narvekar. "There will be no leadership change and the
Government is strong," he told a press conference after his
meeting.

A group of five Congress legislators have rebelled
against the State government demanding dethroning of Chief
Minister Digamber Kamat accusing him of failure to govern the
state. The group comprised of Pandurang Madkaikar, Churchill
Alemao, Fransisco Silveira, Agnelo Fernandes and Aleixo
Reginaldo Lourenco.

The GPCC chief, talking to media, said that there was
indiscipline on the part of Congress legislators who publicly
aired their grievances without taking the party organisation
into confidence. "If they had any issues they can be discussed
within the four walls of party set up. There was no need to go
public with the issues," Shirodkar, who sympathised with the
issues, said.
