New Delhi: The NDA government is likely to finalise the names of seven Governors to be appointed in the seven states who were asked to step down as they were appointed by the former Congress government, as per news reports.
Names of former Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Keshri Nath Tripathi, former Lucknow MP Lalji Tandon and veteran party leader from Himachal Shanta Kumar have been doing rounds for the posts, reports stated.
The list of final names need to be approved by the Home Ministry before recommendation to the President is sent for final approval.
Uttar Pradesh Governor BL Joshi, Chhattisgarh Governor Shekhar Dutt and Nagaland Governor Ashwani Kumar had earlier stepped down from their respective posts.
MK Narayanan (West Bengal) and BV Wanchoo (Goa) tendered their resignation after being probed in the VVIP chopper scam.
Karnataka Governor HR Bhardwaj and Tripura Governor Devanand Konwar retired last month from their posts.
