Govt ready to discuss issues of national importance: Venkaiah Naidu on Budget

UnionParliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday assured that the government is inclined to discuss all issues of national importance during the forthcoming Budget Session, and sought the opposition`s help to maintain dignity of the house.

New Delhi: Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday assured that the government is inclined to discuss all issues of national importance during the forthcoming Budget Session, and sought the opposition`s help to maintain dignity of the house.

"From the government`s side, we have assured our full co-operation. We have said that we have no problem in discussing any issue, and every issue, permitted by the chair. We also appealed to the opposition that the dignity and decorum of the house is maintained. All members of the opposition have assured their support in conducting proceedings in the house," Naidu said.
The minister also gave a hint of the likely bills that are to be taken up in the forthcoming budget session.

"The Bill to replace the ordinance regards to Polavaram project and Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill, will also be bringing a bill replacing the ordinance issued in regard to TRAI, Commerce Ministry will bring a designs bill. The bills that have lapsed in Lok Sabha and are pending in Rajya Sabha they have been committed to respective ministries, they will be discussing and informing us which one they will take up on priority once I receive will put then into business advisory committee, and then, we will fix time for them," Naidu added.
"All the members have thanked the speaker for calling this meeting. We have conveyed from the government side that we will take up Rail Budget, General Budget, and Delhi State Budget and also willing to discuss any issue of national importance. We have suggested to the opposition that they can avail the opportunities of discussion on rail and general budget. The government will also be making a statement about the situation in Iraq. The Minister of External Affairs will make a statement in both the houses of parliament ," he further added.

Earlier, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan called an all party meeting ahead of the budget session that begins from July 10.

The meeting was attended by opposition parties like the Trinamool Congress and the Congress to seek their co-operation in smooth running of the house.
