Guj cops provide security to Pak fishermen released from jail

The Gujarat police has provided protection to the 19 Pakistani fishermen released from the Gujarat jails on Friday.

Vadodara: The Gujarat police has provided protection to the 19 Pakistani fishermen released from the Gujarat jails on Friday, who are on their way to Wagha border,
Director General of Police (DGP) SS Khandwawala said on Sunday.

Talking to a news agency today Khandwawala said, "After the decision of the union government, they were released from different jails in the state and brought to Porbandar from where they left for Wagha Atari border on Friday."

They have been provided protection by Gujarat police, the DGP said.

These fishermen were arrested by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) when they had illegally strayed into the Indian waters at Jakhau in Kutch district bordering with Pakistan
about two years ago. The `Gul-E-sarovar` boat in which they were travelling was also seized by the ICG.
