New Delhi: Amid controversy over the Tipaimukh dam in Manipur, Bangladesh will conduct a study of the project to assess its impacts on its side to enable the two countries resolve the issue amiciably.
To enable Bangladesh carry out the study, India on Tuesday handed over a copy of the detailed project report of Tipaimukh hydropower project to Dhaka.
At the end of the two-day meeting of Indo-Bangladesh joint sub group on the proposed Tipaimukh Hydroelectric Project, the two sides also finalised Terms of Reference of the proposed study.

While no timeline has been finalised to complete the study, Bangladesh will examine the DPR and carry out a study on its side of the dam, sources in the government told a news agency.
A statement from the Bangladesh High Commission here said India has assured its counterpart to provide additional and supplementary data and information if required for the study.
This was the first meeting of the joint sub-group.
The sub-group will jointly examine and amend, if required, the study before "vetting" it.
Based on the study, the sub-group will recommend measures to their respective governments.
