London, July 12: A high-powered Indian business
delegation will visit the UK in September to explore the
possibilities of tie ups in areas of defence and security, the
UK-India Business council said on Sunday.
The visit will be preceded by a trip to India of a group
of British businessmen, who will aim at boosting business
contacts, Patricia Hewitt, Chairperson of the UK-India
Business council said.
Hewitt, a former British trade and industry secretary,
said she would lead a delegation to India next month to boost
business contacts in small and medium enterprises.
She said there was vast potential in the defence
establishments between the two countries and a delegation of
Indian businessmen will be in the UK in September to explore
possibilities of cooperation.
BAE Systems of Britain is already having a joint venture
with the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bangalore for
production of Hawk jet fighters.
