Ranchi: Jharkhand High Court disposed of a
PIL seeking CBI probe into alleged irregularities in the
expenditure of Secret Service Fund (SSF) today ruling that the
government can decide on its own.
The division bench headed by Chief Justice Bhagawati
Prasad disposed of the PIL as the state government yesterday
filed an affidavit stating that it was prepared to recommend a
probe by the central intelligence agency.
The court on August 23 directed the state to file the
affidavit clarifying whether it had considered recommendation
of a CBI probe.

SSF is spent to obtain information secret in nature and
on matters relating to the maintainenance of law and order.

The PIL was filed by R S Singh, a social activist who
demanded a CBI probe into the expenditure of SSF soon after
the Accountant General on June 2, 2009 wrote a letter to the
government raising doubts in its expenditure as requisite
documents were allegedly not submitted after the withdrawal of
Rs 5.6 crore from the fund on March 16, 2006.
