Gandhinagar: Senior BJP leader L K Advani
on Saturday attacked the UPA government on high food price
inflation, saying even the middle class people are affected by
the rise in prices of essential commodities.
"Not only poor, but middle class people are also facing
the severe rise in prices. Had anybody imagined that price of
dal will shoot up like this ?," Advani asked while speaking to
reporters here.
"Food inflation here has nothing to do with international
economic situation," the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha
claimed.
Rising prices of potatoes, onions and pulses pushed food
inflation to a high of 19.05 percent in the fourth week of
November, from 17.47 percent for the week ended November 21.
"The rise in inflation is due to excessive spending by
the Union Government before last year`s general elections," he
said, adding the matter was discussed in Parliament recently.
Meanwhile, Advani refused to comment on demand for
bifurcation of states in the wake of Telangana crisis.
