New Delhi: Newly-elected Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Saturday called on Vice President Hamid Ansari and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Mahajan met Ansari, who is also Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha, at his residence.
Later, she visited the residence of Vajpayee who is staying away from public life due to ill health.
She also called on her predecessor Meira Kumar.
71-year-old Mahajan, a BJP veteran, was yesterday elected unopposed as the Speaker of the 16th Lok Sabha, becoming the second woman to occupy the prestigious position after her predecessor Kumar.
