Man who bid to attack Cong leader sent to Tihar

A man, who created sensation by trying to hit Congress general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi with a shoe, was today sent to 14-day judicial custody by a court of an executive magistrate here.

trying to hit Congress general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi
with a shoe, was today sent to 14-day judicial custody by a
court of an executive magistrate here.

Sunil Kumar, who sneaked into a press conference at
Congress headquarters here yesterday by allegedly posing as a
journalist, was produced before the Special Executive
Magistrate at Parliament Street Police Station and was sent to
jail till June 20.

The accused, detained before the commencement of a press
briefing on yoga guru Ramdev`s eviction from Ramlila ground,
has been booked under various provisions of the CrPC dealing
with breach of public tranquillity.

The man, apparently miffed over the treatment meted out
to Ramdev, had tried to attack Dwivedi.

The person, who was carrying an identification as Sunil
Kumar of Nav-Sanchar Patrika from Rajasthan, came close to
Dwivedi, removed his shoe and stopped short of hitting him
with it.

He was immediately caught by AICC staffer and some
journalists and was removed from the hall.
