Thiruvananthapuram: As Prime Minister Manmohan Singh prepares to demit office this week, a senior PMO official said if the PM has chosen to remain silent on some of the controversies that happened during his ten years in office that is out of his dignity and not due to weakness.

"It has been his conscious decision (that he had remained silent) on some of the controversies. There have been various interpretations about this. But his silence is not borne out of weakness. It reflects on his dignity," TKA Nair, adviser to the Prime Minister, told a news channel.
Nair, a veteran civil servant who has served in the PMO ever since Singh assumed office, said he was sure that there would soon be a proper assessment of Singh`s contributions to the nation in the last ten years.
"There will be a proper assessment of the services he has rendered the nation, his contributions to the nation. Let us wait for that," Nair added.
