New Delhi: Senior BJP leader and party patriarch, LK Advani said on Sunday that his political journey that he had started 55 years ago has not yet ended.

Writing a blog titled, "How association with RSS has given meaning to my life", Advani said that from the age of fourteen-and-a-half years until now, only one duty had defined the purpose of his life and that was to serve his motherland.

“When I look back at my life of over eight decades, I remind myself that I found my calling in life when, on a tennis court in Hyderabad (Sindh), I first heard the name of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and became a swayamsevak in 1942. I found meaning when I started attending Sunday evening discourses on the Bhagvad Gita by Swami Ranganathananda in Karachi. I found meaning when I left my home and family to work as a pracharak of the RSS, first in Karachi and later, after being uprooted by Partition, in Rajasthan,” he writes.
He further says, “That meaning got further enriched when I embarked on a political journey fifty-five years ago, first as a worker of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and later of the Bharatiya Janata Party. It is a journey that has not yet ended. From the age of fourteen and a half years till now, only one duty has defined the purpose of my life: to serve my Motherland.”

Advani`s blog comes even as there is speculation over his nomination to the Rajya Sabha. However, party president, Rajnath Singh has denied any such talk. He also said that the senior BJP leader was free to choose and contest his own Parliamentary seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, as per PTI reports.
As widely reported in the media, Advani was vehemently opposed to the declaration of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as BJP`s PM candidate for the 2014 General Elections. However, the party`s parliamentary board went ahead and named Modi as the party`s face. The announcement was made in Delhi in September last year in front of the media by party president, Rajnath Singh. Advani was not present at the event, though Modi did go and seek his blessings later on.

But as time went by Advani came around to accepting the Gujarat CM as the party`s PM candidate, as least publicly, and even went ahead and praised him. He has also time and again expressed confidence in the past that BJP would be able to come back to power at the Centre after a decade under the leadership of Modi.
