Bhopal: Making light of Narendra Modi`s prime ministerial ambition, senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh on Monday said many leaders including Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav are nursing a desire for the top job.

"There are many leaders in the country who want to become prime minister and at forefront among them is Narendra Modi," Digvijay told reporters at his residence here.
He said among leaders aspiring for the Prime Minister`s chair are Mulayam Singh Yadav, Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalitha and her Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal.

To a query, the AICC general secretary said Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi will lead the party`s campaign in Lok Sabha polls and does not figure in the list of candidates eyeing the top post.
Rebutting Modi`s jibe that Sonia Gandhi refrained from naming Rahul as Congress` prime ministerial nominee as she did not want to "sacrifice" his political career, Digvijay said, "Modi can never understand a mother`s love".
