The Delhi High Court on Friday ordered veteran Congress leader ND Tiwari to pay Rs 75,000 to Rohit Shekhar, who claims to be his biological son, in compliance with the court`s previous order on his paternity suit.

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday
ordered veteran Congress leader ND Tiwari to pay Rs 75,000
to Rohit Shekhar, who claims to be his biological son, in
compliance with the court`s previous order on his paternity
suit.
Justice Gita Mittal directed Tiwari to comply with
the court`s August 13, 2010 order and pay the amount to
Shekhar by May 10 before the court`s joint registrar.

While dismissing Tiwari`s plea for deletion of some
portions of Shekhar`s paternity suit, the court had imposed a
cost of Rs 75,000 and had directed him to pay the amount. He
had challenged the court`s order before a division bench.

On November 12 last year, the division bench too had
dismissed 84-year-old Tiwari`s plea challenging the single
judge order to pay the amount.

The former Andhra Pradesh Governor had contended that
the high court`s single-judge bench had erred in rejecting
his plea and imposing the cost as it was done without issuing
a notice to the other party.
Tiwari had sought deletion of a paragraph from the
suit in which Shekhar had alleged that the veteran leader
avoided meeting him at the Delhi Airport when he made an
attempt to do so in 2005.

Tiwari, who has denied having any physical relation
with the petitioner`s mother, has also been ordered by the
High Court to undergo a DNA test for determination of
Shekhar`s paternity.

The court has sought the help of a Delhi government
dispensary for determination of modalities to draw blood
samples of Tiwari, Shekhar and his mother for the DNA test.
