New Delhi: The anti-corruption movement launched by noted social crusader Anna Hazare has earned praise from the world leaders and this time President of the United States, Barack Obama, has hailed the Gandhian’s efforts to bring a change through non- violent means.
Media reports, Thursday, claimed that the US President hailed the wind of change sweeping across the Middle East, Asia and the Arab world, while addressing the congregation of world leader attending the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meeting in New York.
In his speech, Obama spoke about the will of the people across the globe, who believe in peaceful co-existence and want to live in freedom and dignity.
Though he did not name Anna Hazare in particular, he mentioned non-violent protests in various parts of the world, including India, seeking freedom and change.
"We saw in those protesters the moral force of non-violence that has lit the world from Delhi to Warsaw, from Selma to South Africa," Obama was quoted as saying.
Hazare`s peaceful campaign against corruption recently forced the government to agree to his conditions for a strong anti-graft legislation.
