New Delhi: There have been "numerous
attempts" to infiltrate into the country from the western
borders along Pakistan which are being thwarted regularly, the
BSF, which guards the frontier, on Saturday said.

"There have been numerous attempts to infiltrate into
India along the western theatre that is Jammu, Punjab,
Rajasthan and Gujarat frontiers. These are the four frontiers
on western theatre from which infiltration attempts can be
made and are being made," BSF chief Raman Srivastava told
reporters on the sidelines of the joint border talks with the
Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB).
The BSF Director General, however, refused to cite the
number of such incidents and the period, saying he "not
really" can give the statistics on these attempts.

He added there has been no (successful) infiltration
on the western border and whatever little infiltration might
have taken place would be along the Line of Control (LoC) in
Jammu region where the BSF is deployed under the operational
command of the Army.
"I cannot comment on it," he said.

"All such attempts are being thwarted and a number of
people have been killed by the BSF and no successful
infiltration has taken place and I can assure you it will not
take place," he said.

Srivastava said his troops are actively deployed and
vigilant on the borders 24x7 and 365 days in an year.
