Over 3 lakh cases disposed of in National Lok Adalat in Delhi

Over 3 lakh cases were disposed of and compensation of Rs.39.89 crore was disbursed during the Delhi segment of the National Lok Adalat on Saturday.

New Delhi: Over 3 lakh cases were disposed of and compensation of Rs.39.89 crore was disbursed during the Delhi segment of the National Lok Adalat on Saturday.

It was organised by the Delhi State Legal Services Authority under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority at the Delhi High Court and all the district court complexes - Tis Hazari, Karkardooma, Patiala House, Saket, Rohini and Dwarka.

"On this occasion, Delhi State Legal Services Authority constituted 300 benches for all kind of cases i.e. civil, criminal compoundable, Negotiable Instrument Act, electricity, motor accident claims, bank loan, labour, arbitration, matrimonial and traffic challans apart from pre-litigative matters and plea bargaining," said a press release.

It added that 344,998 cases were disposed of and Rs.39.89 crore disbursed as compensation.
Nine benches of the Lok Adalat in the Delhi family courts amicably settled 200 cases relating to matrimonial disputes.
The Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee constituted two benches in the Delhi High Court to deal with the Motor Accident Claims Appeals wherein 82 appeals of 107 cases were disposed of and Rs.2.42 crore compensation was given to the claimants.
