A PIL was filed in Delhi HC today seeking a direction to govt for a CBI inquiry into alleged alteration in the railways accounting system during Lalu Prasad Yadav`s tenure as Railway Minister between 2004-2005 and 2008-09.

New Delhi: A PIL was filed in Delhi High
Court today seeking a direction to government for a CBI
inquiry into alleged alteration in the railways accounting
system during Lalu Prasad Yadav`s tenure as Railway Minister
between 2004-2005 and 2008-09.

Filing the PIL through advocate Nawal Kishore Jha
before a Division Bench headed by Chief Justice A P Shah,
petitioner Dharamvir Khola alleged a huge amount of money was
siphoned during Lalu`s regime.

Seeking the court`s direction for setting up a
committee comprising high officials of the Ministry, he said
the committee will inquire into all transactions made during
Lalu Yadav`s stint as Railway Minister.

The Court fixed January 13 for hearing the petition.
According to the petitioner, the White Paper, tabled
in the Lok Sabha by Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee recently,
said the accounting system was altered and the figure of
profit was inflated during Lalu`s tenure to project the
Ministry`s healthy financial position.
Jha alleged in his petition that when Lalu was the
Minister the railways` performance was below par during
2004-05 and 2008-09 and he had illegally allowed his own
contractors for catering and other jobs in the ministry.
