PM sends 80 lakh SMSes to teachers, students on Teachers' Day

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi today sent SMSes to 80 lakh teachers and students wishing them on Teachers' Day.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today sent SMSes to 80 lakh teachers and students wishing them on Teachers' Day.

In his message, Modi praised the tireless efforts of teachers in spreading knowledge for generations.

Meanwhile, the PMO has received about 11 lakh email addresses from the HRD Ministry for the Prime Minister to send out messages to teachers and students.

Yesterday, Modi while addressing teachers had said teaching is not a profession but 'jeevan dharm" (a way of life) and asked teachers to understand changes happening across the world to prepare the new generation accordingly.

Interacting with the 350 national awardee teachers, who were felicitated by President Pranab Mukherjee on Teachers' today, he said a teacher never retires and always endeavours to teach the new generation.
