New Delhi: Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj
on Monday said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh`s statement on police
action against Ramdev reminded her of Emergency days when
similar language was used by the then rulers.
"When emergency was imposed, similar language was used
by the then rulers that `emergency was unfortunate but there
was no alternative`," Swaraj posted on micro-blogging site
Twitter.
"Are we back to the days of emergency?," she wondered
while expressing her "shock" over the Prime Minister`s
statement.
Breaking his silence on the police action at Ramdev`s
protest congregation, Singh today said it was "unfortunate"
but unavoidable.
"It is unfortunate that the operation had to be
conducted but quite honestly, there was no alternative," the
Prime Minister, who has been accused of mishandling the
situation, said.
