Politburo decision on VS to "protect corrupt people"

The CPI(M) decision to remove Chief minister V S Achuthanandan from the politburo was intended to protect the people involved in corruption in a graft case, KPCC President, Ramesh Chennithala alleged here on Sunday.

Kochi, July 12: The CPI(M) decision to remove Chief
minister V S Achuthanandan from the politburo was intended to
protect the people involved in corruption in a graft case,
KPCC President, Ramesh Chennithala alleged here on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters here, he said there is a conspiracy
conspiracy in CPI(M)`s action in "exonerating" the accused
from the SNC-Lavalin graft case, at a time when the case is
before the court.

"I have not seen such a political party like CPI(M),which
has taken action against those who raised their voice against
corruption and protected the people involved in corruption,"
he said.

Asked whether Achuthanandan should resign his Chief
Ministership, Chennithala said it is an internal matter of the
cpi(m), but that Achuthanandan could fight against corruption
even from outside.

The people of Kerala would `ignore` the politburo`s stand
that CPI(M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan was not involved
in any corrupt practices in the case, he said.

Chennithala said the CPI(M) leadership should have asked
Vijayan to prove his innocence before court, but it had not
taken such a stand.

He alleged that both the Politburo and CPI(M) General
Secretary Prakash Karat were not interested in knowing the
`truth` in the case.

Chennithala said the Congress would continue its fight
till all the accused in the case are punished.

Alleging that governance in Kerala had come to a
standstill, he said people have distanced themselves from the
government. The government has no time to look into their
problems, he said.

To a query about taking back Janata Dal(S) into the UDF
fold, he said the party, which has helped UDF in the recent
Lok Sabha poll, had so far not made an official request."If it
comes, UDF will discuss on the subject," he said.

Asked about the entry of NCP into UDF, Chennithala shot
back `don`t you have other questions?.
