New Delhi, Sept 15: Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa
Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda, who had led a decade-long armed
rebellion in the neighbouring country, today offered tributes
to the apostle of peace, Mahatma Gandhi, at his memorial in New Delhi.
Prachanda, who is on a five-day visit to India, drove
down to Raj Ghat, the memorial of the Mahatma, to pay
obeisance during his official visit.
The Nepalese leader had spearheaded the armed rebellion
against monarchy in Nepal by remaining underground. Thousands
of civilians were killed in numerous attacks by the Maoists to
abolish monarchy.
Prachanda joined the political mainstream last year and
his Communist Party Nepal (Maoist) laid down arms to
participate in elections held earlier this year following
which Nepal became Federal Democratic Republic.
