President clears deck for Aam Aadmi Party govt in Delhi

A day after Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced that it will form government in Delhi, President`s office has cleared the deck and given its approval to the Home Ministry.

New Delhi: A day after Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced that it will form government in Delhi, President`s office has cleared the deck and given its approval to the Home Ministry.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Secretary today met Arvind Kejriwal at his residence to chalk out the plans for the activist-turned politician`s swearing-in-ceremony.
Delhi Chief Secretary has also called a meeting of senior officials today to make preparations for the swearing-in ceremony of Kejriwal and his key ministers.

Ending a fortnight-long deadlock, the AAP yesterday staked claim to form the government in the national capital with outside support from the Congress, which it had trounced in the December 4 Assembly polls.
The decision was announced by AAP after its Political Affairs Committee (PAC) met Monday morning and decided to respect with the results of the `referendum` which overwhelmingly favoured the party taking the reins of power.

Kejriwal then met Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and and handed him a letter staking claim to form government in Delhi.

 45-year-old Kejriwal, who was the party`s face in the elections, will be the seventh new Chief Minister who will be sworn-in at a public event in the Ramlila Maidan, the venue of Anna Hazare`s anti-corruption movement for a Janlokpal Bill.
