Zee Media Bureau/Ritesh K SrivastavaNew>Meanwhile, Congress also defended the Centre`s decision to allow a probe into snoopgate case. Its general secretary Digvijay Singh said, “Congratulations to Central Government, this should have happened earlier. “
“This was an open violation of India Telegraph Act & IT Act, someone must be held responsible for violating it,” Singh said in his reaction.
The snooping scandal came to light when two investigative portals, Cobrapost and Gulail, claimed on November 15 that Amit Shah, the former home minister of Gujarat and Modi`s close aide, had ordered illegal surveillance of a woman at the behest of one "saheb".
They had released taped conversation between Shah and an IPS officer to back up their claim.
The issue has seen a war of words between the two main political parties since it came to fore.
Meanwhile, adding a fresh twist to the snooping row, the father of the woman earlier told the National Commission of Women (NCW) that his daughter did not want any probe into the issue as there was no encroachment on her privacy. He had also told the commission that he had himself made the request to the Gujarat CM to take the steps in his daughter`s interest , due to personal and family reasons.
