Bangalore: A day an unidentified gunman fired at his convoy, injuring one of the devotees, Art of Living guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on Monday said that those who wanted to spread terror, and disrupt peace and harmony were responsible, adding that he has already forgiven the attacker.

Addressing a press conference in his Kanakpura ashram in Bangalore, the spiritual guru said that he was not afraid of such attacks as such things could happen anywhere in the world with anyone.

“I am not so shocked. I am not afraid of such things. What is required is to reaffirm our faith in ahimsa and non-violence in such situations. There is no need to panic. The attackers should be faced with faith and bravery.”

When quizzed about the motive of the attack, he said, “I can’t say what could have been the motive behind such attack. There are some people who want to attack me but I have no enemies. I have not spoken ill about others in past 55 years of my life. So, I can’t say who are behind the attack on my convoy. I would, however, welcome the attackers to attend the satsang and other religious activities performed at my ashram to become a better person.”

On the security net thrown around him in the wake of attack, Ravi Shankar said, “I don’t want security to block me. Security must not stop me from reaching out to my people. But, of course, security of foreigners visiting our centres must be ensured. “
The spiritual guru concluded by saying, “In the end the power of ahimsa and satya only will prevail. My message to all is of peace, so lets us not panic and continue striving for making earth a better place for every one.”
