Tehelka sexual assault case: `Traumatised by lack of support,` says victim in resignation letter

The young journalist, who accused former editor Tarun Tejpal of sexually assaulting her, has said that she is traumatised by the lack of support by Tehelka in her resignation letter on Monday.

New Delhi: The young journalist, who accused former editor Tarun Tejpal of sexually assaulting her, has said that she is traumatised by the lack of support by Tehelka in her resignation letter on Monday.

In the resignation letter, the victim accused managing editor Shoma Chaudhury of cover-up and wrote that under these circumstances, it was not possible for her to continue, as per news report.

The victim tendered her resignation today which has been accepted by the magazine.

Meanwhile, the Goa police established contact with the victim in Mumbai today. However, they refused to divulge any further details stating privacy concerns.

The police had earlier questioned three employees of Tehelka whom the victim told the incident to soon after it happened.

The police had also questioned Chaudhury earlier and seized "certain electronic items that are required during the process of investigation."

The victim, in her complaint to Chaudhury had said that Tejpal had sexually assaulted her twice in the elevator in the Club House section of the Grand Hyatt five star resort during the high-profile ThinkFest conference on November 7-8.

The victim is daughter of a former colleague of Tejpal, who has recused himself from his post as editor after being accused of sexual assault by the victim.
