New Delhi: Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari said on Monday that Pakistan must realise that certain historical wrongs had been committed and one of them was the occupation of the Indian territory by the neighbouring country.
The Congress leader was responding to incessant ceasefire violations by Pakistan and repeated infiltration attempts along the Line of Control, as per reports in a news website.
Tiwari was quoted by the site as saying, "It would serve the leadership of Pakistan also to realise that certain historical wrongs have been committed. One of them is the occupation of Indian territory by Pakistan."
He also said that there was unanimous resolution of the Indian Parliament of 1994, which said that these territories must be returned to India and that any attempt to go beyond the Simla Agreement was not appropriate step in either substance or spirit."
At the same time Tiwari categorically rejected the demand of US intervention in the Kashmir matter by Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif`s and said that there was no possibility of it in the future. "There never will be a case for any third party mediation in J&K," Tewari was quoted as saying.
I&B minister also stated that the Army and the Centre were prepared to tackle any violations along the LoC.
Tewari also justified Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah`s comments over the repeated ceasefire violations along the border and said that as head of the state he had all the right to be worried.
Omar Abdullah today asked the Centre to explore other options if Pakistan continued to violate ceasefire. He also questioned the role Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif and asked whether the repeated ceasefire violations were taking place at the behest of Pakistani PM or were they taking place as he did not have control over the situation.
He further added that if ceasefire violations continued then India should give a befitting reply to its neighbour, saying that it could not be one-sided affair.
