Tibetan govt-in-exile terms China reaction `absurd`

The Tibetan Government-in-exile on Tuesday termed as "absurd" China`s objection to US President Barack Obama`s top aides holding talks with the Dalai Lama.

Shimla: The Tibetan Government-in-exile
on Tuesday termed as "absurd" China`s objection to US President
Barack Obama`s top aides holding talks with the Dalai Lama and
said instead of venting its anger Beijing should pay attention
to finding a solution to the vexed Tibetan issue.

"It`s a routine thing (China expressing anger over
anybody meeting the Dalai Lama)", Prime Minister of Tibetan
government-in-exile Samdhong Rinpoche said over phone.

"No day passes without Beijing spitting venom against the
Tibetan spiritual leader and us Tibetans", he said, terming
the latest reaction from China as "absurd."

Sonam Nurpu Dagpo, Secretary for International Affairs of
the Tibetan government-in-exile was more forthcoming in his
reaction.

"China has no business to object to who is meeting
whom...instead of expressing anger at the Dalai Lama on a
daily basis they (Beijing) should pay attention to solve
Tibetan issue", he added.

Expressing strong protest over the US President`s aides
meeting the 73-year-old Tibetan temporal head yesterday,
Chinese Foreign ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu during a
bi-weekly briefing to reporters today cautioned foreign
governments against holding any meeting with the Dalai Lama
saying it was "firmly opposed" to such acts.

A three-member American team led by Valerie Jarret,
White House adviser and assistant to the President for
inter-governmental affairs and public engagement, had a
closed door meeting yesterday with the Dalai Lama at
Mcleodganj near Dharamsala, the headquarters of the Tibetan
government-in-exile.
