New Delhi: Congress on Friday dismissed
suggestions that its ties with key ally DMK will undergo
strain in case of any action against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister
M Karunanidhi`s daughter Kanimozhi in the 2G spectrum case.
"Our (Congress-DMK) relationship is very good, very
strong and it will continue," AICC general secretary in-charge
of Tamil Nadu Ghulam Nabi Azad told reporters on the sidelines
of a function here.
He was asked if "possible arrest" of Kanimozhi will
affect the ties between the two parties.
Azad`s remarks came on a day when DMK MP Kanimozhi
appeared before a special court, responding to summons for her
alleged involvement in the 2G spectrum scam and sought bail on
grounds of being a woman.
In its supplementary charge sheet filed in a special
court on April 25, the CBI had accused Kanimozhi of entering
into a criminal conspiracy with former Telecom Minister A Raja
for allegedly accepting illegal gratification through
Kalaignar TV -- a channel run by the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu,
in which the money related to the 2G scam was routed.
