UP IPS officer demands impartial probe into Tara Shahdeo case

An Uttar Pradesh IPS officer Amitabh Thakur and his advocate wife Nutan Thakur on Saturday demanded "impartial probe" into the case of Tara Shahdeo and her arrested husband Ranjeet Singh Kohli alias Rakilbul Hussain in the face of alleged involvement of VIPs.

Ranchi: An Uttar Pradesh IPS officer Amitabh Thakur and his advocate wife Nutan Thakur on Saturday demanded "impartial probe" into the case of Tara Shahdeo and her arrested husband Ranjeet Singh Kohli alias Rakilbul Hussain in the face of alleged involvement of VIPs.

In letters submitted to Jharkhand Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar and to the investigating officer, they referred to how a judicial official is under suspension while names of a couple of ministers and police officials cropping up in the case demands the importance of impartial probe.

Releasing a copy of the letters to the media here, Amitabh Thakur, who is IG (Civil Defence) in UP, and Nutan Thakur, known for her PILs, met Tara Shahdeo, heard her ordeal post-marriage and narrated it in the letters.

After Shahdeo accused Kohli and his mother of torture, deceit and exploitation, they were arrested in Delhi on August 26 and are in judicial custody now.

Jharkhand government has already recommended CBI probe into the case.
