We will learn from AAP, transform ourselves: Rahul

After the Congress was served massive defeats in the Assembly elections, vice president Rahul Gandhi on Sunday concluded the results as a message of change from the people of the country.

New Delhi: After the Congress was served massive defeats in the Assembly elections, vice president Rahul Gandhi on Sunday concluded the results as a message of change from the people of the country and said, “I and the Congress have listened to this in our minds and our hearts.”

“We have heard you and we will do what we can as individuals and the party to listen to you,” Rahul said, while adding that, “We have the ability to transform ourselves and the Congress party is going to do that.”

Talking about the debutant Aam Aadmi Party’s spectacular performance in the Delhi Assembly elections, Rahul admitted AAP engaged with the people well, saying that the Congress have to learn from party convener Arvind Kejriwal and the newly formed party itself. “We will learn from them, and we will involve people in a way that no one has ever done before,” Rahul said.

Rahul also congratulated the Congress’ opponents who won the Assembly elections in the four states. “We would like to congratulate our opponents who have won the elections,” he said.

Very disappointed with the results: Sonia

Meanwhile, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi expressed disappointment over the results and said that there is a need for deep introspection. People are obviously unhappy with us otherwise they would not have given such results, said Sonia while addressing the media at the party headquarters in Delhi.

Sonia congratulated the party’s who emerged as winners in the four states, and said that, “We will take necessary steps to correct our mistakes and our way of functioning.”
She, while taking the questions over who will lead the Congress for 2014 General election, said that people at an opportune time PM candidate will be announced. “People need not worry, at an opportune time the name of our party`s PM candidate will be announced,” Sonia said.
On the questions of whether it will be Rahul as the face of Congress’ PM candidate, she said that party has yet to decide that. “The party has to decide whether Rahul will lead the party as PM candidate or not,” Sonia cleared.
