Washington: Video sharing website YouTube has been tested as an effective research tool in a new research.
The study, titled "YouTube as Research Tool-Three Approaches", conducted by students of VU University Amsterdam, was aimed at analyzing the impact of various media content and peer feedback on adolescents.
In order to test the effectiveness of using YouTube to present controlled media content and peer comments, a series of experiments were designed to measure their preferences and moral judgments.
The study involved developing experimental material to be posted on YouTube. The material included content related to female models, body weight and included peer comments.
The researchers` aim was to study the influences of peer feedback and body perception and to identify possible ways to counteract negative influences.
