Manipur: Jawan killed, three injured in IED explosion near Assam Rifles camp

One 35 Assam Rifles jawan was killed while three other jawans injured after an IED exploded near the northern wall of the Assam Rifles Transit camp at Minuthongnear Khuman Lampak Sports Complex on Wednesday evening.

Minuthong: One 35 Assam Rifles jawan was killed while three other jawans injured after an IED exploded near the northern wall of the Assam Rifles Transit camp at Minuthongnear Khuman Lampak Sports Complex on Wednesday evening.

The incident took place at around 7:20 pm in which one of 31st Assam Rifles and two of 17 Assam Rifles sustained serious injuries.

Immediately after the blast, the injured were rushed to the RIMS Hospital and the Shija Hospital at Langol.

The jawan, who was taken to the Shija Hospital, succumbed to the blast injury, whereas the other three, who were taken at the RIMS, sustained minor injuries and are said to be out of danger.

The blast was triggered with suspected remote control when the Assam Rifles conducting their routine patrolling near the Transit Camp. The blast also destroyed a shop which is located near the Transit camp.
