Setback to Punjab Congress as ex-MLA from Bholath Sukhpal Khaira joins AAP

Khaira has been one of the most vociferous voices against the SAD-BJP government.

Chandigarh: The Punjab Congress suffered a major setback on Friday when its firebrand leader and former MLA from Bholath Sukhpal Khaira joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the presence of its senior leaders Sanjay Singh, in-charge of Punjab affairs and MP Bhagwant Mann here.

Khaira has been one of the most vociferous voices against the SAD-BJP government.

On joining the AAP, Khaira said that he had taken the decision as he was not happy with the policies of the Congress.

When asked a question on leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh, he said, Captain is a defeated leader.

In the AAP, he said, he will work as a volunteer.

Before joining the AAP, he sent his resignation to State Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh and national vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

In his resignation letter, he said that he was never given due regards in the party despite its relentless service.
