Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Saturday unveiled two policies pertaining to affordable housing and allotment of land in urban areas of the state.

In the new policy, incentives have been given to developers so that they get motivated to construct EWS/LIG housing on both private and government land, an official statement said today.

Raje noted that the government has reshaped the earlier policy launched in 2009, for providing affordable housing.

She said that with the new policy, the process of allotment of land in urban areas will become faster and smoother for the investors.

"With the increasing land prices as well as those of the building materials, it was a challenge to provide housing to thousands of urban people in all cities at reasonable and affordable prices," a release quoting Raje said.

The new policy also takes in account the land allotment for charitable and social institutions, industrial and public utilities, premier institutions, political parties and government departments, it said.

Urban Development and Housing (UDH) Minister Rajpal Singh Shekhawat, Additional Chief Secretary- Urban Development and Housing Ashok Jain and others were also present at the unveiling of the policy.
