London: A brewery in the city of Bruges in Belgium has come up with a unique plan to shift all the frothy beer from their old factory to new factory for filtration, bottling and shipping - via an underground beer pipeline!

The city council has approved the De Halve Maan brewery's clever plan to save time and money while reducing emissions and congestion that the city faces as the beer is shifted currently via trucks.

Now, the beer will flow through a 2.8 km polyethylene pipeline, making the trip in 15 to 20 minutes, wired.com reported.

The pipeline will move 6,000 litres of beer every hour.

The brewery will cover the installation and road repair costs.

"This innovative investment plan would reduce the amount of transport by heavy goods vehicles by 85 percent," Franky Dumon from the city council was quoted as saying.
