New Delhi: In a feast for your eyes, scientists have captured a planet's birth ever taken with the help of ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array) radio telescope.

The picture resembles a piece of art and depicts multiple rings which signify presence of planets. Further, at the centre is a star called HL Tau, which is at a distance of 450 light years away from the Earth.

ALMA is a high-frequency radio telescope made up of 66 individual antennas. These are combined to create a telescope with an effective diameter of up to 16 kilometres.

The USD 1.35 billion telescope is a joint project of the United States, the European Union, Canada, Chile, Japan and Taiwan
