Washington: Leading car companies like Ford and General Motors have introduced new technologies in the cars, which allows parents to keep their teen drivers safe.

Ford with its speed and volume limit approach and General Motors with its location tracker approach are helping parents to manage their teenage drivers, CBS News reported.

Ford's MyKey allows parents to set a maximum speed limit of 80 MPH by a special key in their teen's car and also, its beeper reminders starts as the car reaches designated speeds.

Ford Executive, Andy Sarkisian, said that MyKey, which was not about control but love, and would help teens to manage the transition from childhood to adulthood and keeping them safe while they do it.

However, the GM Family Link system doesn't not limit the speed, instead, it lets parents stipulate where their teenager can drive and locate the vehicle at any time by going onto the system's web site.
