New Delhi: Meet Dreadnoughtus scrani, one of the largest creatures on earth weighing heavier than a Boeing 737 with a weight of almost 65 tons.
Paleontologist Kenneth Lacovara of Drexel University in Philadelphia, found the fossil of this enormous dinosaur on an expeditionary trip to southern Patagonia in Argentina in 2005.
The 85ft (26m) long creature weighs seven times more than T-Rex and the most interesting fact about Dreadnoughtus is that it was likely still growing at the time of its death in the Patagonian hills, Argentina about 77 million years ago.
With more than 145 bones found, it represents the most complete skeleton of a plant-eating titanosaur ever recovered.
The name Dreadnoughtus, which means “fears nothing”, has been named after the early 20th century battleships. Also, Dreadnoughtus were plant eaters.
