Why toothpaste and orange juice don't mix!

Have you ever tried orange juice after brushing your teeth? After taking a big swig, you just have to spit it out feeling like you have just chewed on a lemon!

New York: Have you ever tried orange juice after brushing your teeth? After taking a big swig, you just have to spit it out feeling like you have just chewed on a lemon!

It turns out that a specific chemical in your toothpaste is responsible for that nasty taste.

According to researchers from the American Chemical Society, a non-profit organisation, you are actually experiencing a two-pronged attack on your taste buds.

It results from a chemical called sodium lauryl sulfate found in everything from toilet cleaning products to yes, your toothpaste.

When this taste-bud-warping chemical comes in contact with vitamin C in Orange juice, it gives you a nasty taste, researchers said.
