London: The researchers have found a new way to capture microwave signals and turn them in to electrical power that can be used to charge a mobile phone.

A team from Duke University has created a device using " metamaterials", which capture various forms of wave energy and convert them for other applications, the BBC reports.

The "power-harvesting" device developers, Alexander Katko and Allen Hawkes, claimed that the technology they had used had been as efficient as using solar panels.
According to the US researchers, this device could be used to harvest satellite, sound or wi-fi signals in the future.
