Kathmandu: A gang of armed robbers today looted 23 million Nepali rupees in cash from a bank vehicle in western Nepal.
The vehicle, belonging to Nabil Bank, was looted in Malakheli of Kailali district while it was transferring the cash to Nepal Rastra Bank from Kanchanpur Tuesday morning, police said.
The gang, disguised as traffic police, stopped the vehicle and overpowered five bank staff, including a security guard, the police said.
The empty vehicle was later recovered from a nearby jungle. The bank staffers are being interrogated over suspicion of their involvement in the incident.
