Chennai: On his maiden visit to Tamil Nadu after assuming charge, Coast Guard Director General Vice Admiral H C S Bisht was given a traditional welcome by Coast Guard personnel here.
"The Director General was accorded a traditional welcome with full military honours at the Coast Guard Air Station where he inspected the guard of honour, comprising Coast Guard personnel drawn from various units at Chennai", an official release said.
Later, Bisht inaugurated the married accommodation project at Thalkancherry and visited various CG establishments here. Tomorrow, the Director General is scheduled to undertake a reccee on a Coast Guard hovercraft from Mandapam, it said.
Bisht took over as 21st Director General of Coast Guard on February 1, 2015 succeeding Vice-Admiral Anurag G Thapliyar.
