Chennai: Church of South India union has called off Christmas celebrations in the aftermath of the devastating rains in Chennai and surrounding areas, which claimed over two hundred lives in the recent past.
Reports on Friday quoted Reverend Emanuel Devakadachiyam as saying, “We will not celebrate Christmas this year.''

The Church of South India (CSI) is deeply involved in the relef and rescue works in Chennai and other flood-affected parts of Tamil Nadu.
CSI had recently launched an emergency response to assist the victims of severe flooding in Chennai.
The city has been left in tatters due to the worst rains to hit Tamil Nadu, in the past 100 years. Life had come to a complete standstill, even as hundreds were killed in the Chennai floods.
