Greater Noida: Two main accused were arrested on Saturday in connection with the lynching of a man over suspected beef consumption at Bishada village near Dadri, Uttar Pradesh.

The two accsued have been identified as Vishal and Shivam.

According to reports Vishal is a son of a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member.

According to a report published in 'Times of India', the family of deceased Mohammed Iqlakh has alleged that five people, including Vishal incited the villagers.

Speaking to the newspaper, Additional district magistrate Rajesh Yadav said the aggrieved family has accused Vishal, Chandrapal, Arun, Hari Om and his brother. Viishal is the son of a BJP worker.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gautam Buddh Nagar Kiran on Friday had confirmed that six persons were arrested in connection with the case, which has hogged limelight.

Around 200 persons attacked the residence of Iqlakh on Monday night after rumours spread in the village that a cow has been slaughtered and the beef was stored in his house, police said.

The mob allegedly beat Iqlakh to death while his 22-year-old son Danish was critically injured in the attack and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Iqlakh's son Sartaj appealed to the public including media not to disturb them as they have told whatever they had to say and allow the family to live in peace.

Opposition parties have hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his "silence" on the killing of a man in Dadri over rumours of his family having eaten beef.
